Missing Teeth

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is useful to cover or restoration to replace the missing portion of a tooth.

You made need a crown if your tooth is very decayed and not strong enough to be filled anymore. Or, been accidentally damaged or you may need one following root canal treatment.

Firstly, we need to prepare the tooth then we will need to take impressions of the prepared tooth and one of the opposing teeth to get correct bite. We will take shade to match to the other teeth. It will then be sent to the laboratory to be made, you will be fitted with a temporary crown in-between the two appointments. On the second visit the dentist will check the fit of the crown and the bite, it will then be cemented into place.

Bridges are used to fill gaps between teeth caused by one or more missing teeth, usually the two neighboring teeth will have crowns fixed onto them with a false crown in the middle. The process is the same as a crown. There is also a Maryland bridge which has two wings on which are cemented to the back of the two teeth, this can sometimes be used to fill one missing tooth.
